Professor Jacques Le CacheuxJacques Le Cacheux is Professor of Economics at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour where he has been the director of the Centre d'analyse Théorique et de Traitement des données (CATT) since 2005. He is the Director of the Economics Research Department of the OFCE (Observatoire français des conjunctures économiques) since 1993 at Sciences Po. He also teaches at Sciences Po, at Stanford University in Paris, the European Online Academy, and the Collège des Hautes Etudes Européennes. He received his PhD in economics at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy) and was granted a post-doctoral Fulbright scholarship to study at New York University. His areas of research include European integration issues, taxation and international macroeconomics. He has published many articles in various journals (including American Economic Review, Revue de l'OFCE, Revue économique, Revue d'économie politique, etc.) and collective volumes. Professor Le Cacheux has extensive experience in conducting externally funded research projects and has been a member of various European research projects and networks financed by the European Commission (EUROMOD, MOCHO, EUROCAP, CONNEX, CONSENT, GOVECOR)
The Centre d'analyse Théorique et de Traitement des données (CATT) at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour offers a broad area of research opportunities. With its publications on microeconomics, macroeconomics, international and public economics among others, it contributes regularly to academic discourse and sets standards for further developments. The Centre regularly carries out contracts of research for the district council d' Aquitaine (Evaluation of the economic effects of European structural bases) ant the Commissariat Général au Plan. The C.A.T.T seeks to deepen the relations with the companies and administrations of the area. It places regularly students in convention C.I.F.R.E.: this statute makes it possible for students to carry out their theses in companies or local government agencies.
In the first phase of the Issue Area "Economic Governance", Prof. Le Cacheux will study the demographic dynamics, labour market outcomes and sources of economic growth in the Euro-Mediterranean Region. In the second phase, Prof. Le Cacheux's work will concentrate on the development of an optimistic economic scenario for the year 2025. His policy recommendations will focus on strategies for political stability and economic growth.
